Transferring files to your sonicTransporter

The sonicTransporter will show up in the network folder on your computer. You can click on it to open the file share. You can then “drag and drop” files from your computer (or a USB drive attached to your computer) to the sonicTransporter.

If you have internal storage put the files in storage -> music. This folder is already indexed by Roon and the other server software on the sonicTransporter.

For USB attached storage you will see your files under the folder usbdrive

The is no user name or password required to access the sonicTransporter

Directions on copying from from a Microsoft Windows computer

On Windows computers sometimes the sonicTransporter will not show up in the network folder. This is caused by a bug in Windows. Sometimes it will show up after a day or two.

There should be no username or password when you try to mount a share. But with some of the recent microsoft updates you need to enter user guest and no password.

Note: You may need to enable SMBv1 for network shares to show up in Widnows. This is how to do that.

How to enable SMBv1

On any version of Windows you can always access the file share by using the Win + R “Run” box.

Press the Windows key (in between ctrl and alt) and the R key at the same time. You will get the Run box. You can then type \\ipaddress. To get the IP address of the sonicTransporter you can look on sonicorbiter.com.

So for example if the IP of your sonicTransporter is 192.168.1.10 type \\192.168.1.10 in the run box.

You can now access your file share as normal.
